The transmission distance of VGA cable is relatively long, can reach tens of meters or even farther, depending on the strength of the image signal and cable quality.

Resolution support is different:

Serial cable does not involve image transmission, so it does not involve the issue of resolution. While VGA cable can support different resolutions, from low resolution (such as 640x480) to high resolution (such as 1920x1080) can be transmitted by VGA cable.

The interface types are different:

Serial cables usually use serial interfaces such as DB9 to connect computers and serial devices. While VGA cables usually use a 15-pin VGA connector to connect computers and monitors.

Signal types are different:

Serial cables transmit digital signals, data represented by binary codes. VGA cables, on the other hand, transmit analog signals, continuously varying voltage signals, which are used to control the image display of the monitor.
